Big 10 teams are underdogs in every bowl

Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Bo Pelini

The Big 10 has had a season that many of their fans would like to forget. From the start when Alabama dismantled Michigan 41-14 on a neutral field to the finish where the 7-5 Wisconsin Badgers beat the 10-2 Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The Badgers, now 8-5 and without Bret Bielema leading them, are heading to the Rose Bowl for the third straight year. The two teams ahead of the Badgers are Ohio State and Penn State, both of on probation, which Wisconsin AD/Interim coach Barry Alvarez isn’t apologizing for.

“I’m not apologizing for us to go to the Rose Bowl with five losses,” Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez said during his press conference to announce he would coach the Badgers in that game. “I didn’t have anything to do with two teams being ineligible in our division. That allowed us to play in that championship game, and we soundly defeated the champion from the other side.”

The team with the best record in the Big 10 is Nebraska at 10-3 and even they are underdogs in the Capital One Bowl.
