Lane Kiffin was supposedly going to be the head coach at Houston, then he was going to be the head coach at USF, then he was going to be the head coach at FAU and yet none of those things have happened.
Kiffin is LSU’s main target to come in and run the offense for the Tigers under new head coach Ed Orgeron, but if Kiffin decides to stay at Alabama under Nick Saban, where do the Tigers go?
The Advocate’s Ross Delenger suggests that Matt Canada’s name has emerged as a serious backup plan.

This wouldn’t sit well with LSU fans.
Canada has been an offensive coordinator at five different schools since 2007.
Total Offense – Year – Team – Position
50th – 2007 – Indiana – (OC / QB)
84th – 2008 – Indiana – (OC / QB)
82nd – 2009 – Indiana – (OC / QB)
73rd – 2010 – Indiana – (OC / QB)
5th – 2011 – Northern Illinois – (OC / QB)
43rd – 2012 – Wisconsin – (OC / QB)
81st – 2013 – NC State – (OC / QB)
54th – 2014 – NC State – (OC / QB)
55th – 2015 – NC State – (OC / QB)
48th – 2016 – Pitt – (OC / QB)
If LSU were to hire Canada, they would be exactly where they were under Les Miles. There are other options like Steve Sarkisian, sure he has baggage but he’s been at Alabama with Kiffin and he’s a proven offensive guy, and Mark Helfrich who was just fired at Oregon.
